Why we started Rising Mothers Foundation Ontario (RMFO)
Rising Mothers Foundation Ontario (RMFO) was founded by a single mother who experienced firsthand the isolation, hardship, and lack of support that so many mothers face. Having navigated the overwhelming challenges of raising children alone with little to no community support, our founder was driven by one powerful question: how do I make sure no other mother feels this alone?
From that lived experience and personal pain, RMFO was born — a safe, compassionate, and practical organization dedicated to being the support system she wished had existed. Every program we offer is rooted in that founding moment of turning struggle into purpose, and ensuring that no mother in Ontario ever has to walk her hardest road alone.
The mothers we support, the lives we transform
The mothers we support at RMFO come from diverse backgrounds but share one reality: they are facing significant challenges on their own. We work with single mothers and widows, survivors of gender-based violence, newcomer and immigrant mothers, and those navigating grief, separation, mental health, literacy, or substance use barriers.
Many feel overwhelmed and unsure where to turn. RMFO provides practical support through childcare access, job training and mentorship, mental health services, settlement guidance, and community connection. More than programs, we offer a sense of belonging, dignity, and the opportunity for every mother to not just survive, but truly thrive.

RMFO is guided by core values that shape every interaction and program we deliver. Compassion drives us to meet each mother with empathy and without judgment, while dignity ensures every woman is treated with respect and worth.
We are committed to inclusivity, welcoming mothers from all backgrounds, and to empowerment, supporting them to build confidence, skills, and independence. Community is central to our work, creating spaces where mothers can connect and grow together. We also prioritize trust, fostering safe environments for openness, and are grounded in hope, believing every mother has the potential for a better future. These values are the foundation of everything we do at RMFO.
